Fire Presentations  

The Akron Fire Department's Community Services Bureau offers a variety of Fire Safety presentations that are tailored for groups such as area businesses, schools, organizations, co1n1nunity groups and families. 

Fire Station Tours  

The Akron Fire Department welcomes the community to visit the fire stations for tours. Please call our Community Services Bureau to make an appointment for your visit. The tour will include printed material that contains information to help protect yourself and others from general fire safety hazards. Information is age-specific for each group.   

Fire Extinguisher Training  

The Akron Fire Department's Community Services Bureau provides fire extinguisher training and annual updates for businesses. To plan for this training, organizations can specify their preferred location, number of attendees, and desired number of sessions. Upon request, the Bureau can also conduct simulations of fire extinguisher use. Please reach out to the Community Services Bureau to learn more. 

Smoke House  

The Akron Fire Safety House is a training simulation available by request only. Participants can learn to recognize fire hazards in homes and other locations. The Fire Safety Trailer was made possible by a grant from FEMA and is suitable for presentations at schools, festivals, and other community events. The trailer targets children aged 5-9, but people of all ages can benefit from the information provided. Adult permission is required for children to participate in activities on the Fire Safety Trailer, as it involves the use of non-toxic, perfumed fog to simulate smoky conditions. Career Fairs 

The Akron Fire Department is eager to participate in career fairs. The Akron Fire Department takes pride in sharing the goals and objectives of having a career in the fire service, and having the privilege of serving the Akron community. Aluminum Cans for Burned Children  

The Akron Fire Department accepts aluminum cans for recycling at all of our Fire Stations. For a location near you, please contact Lieutenant Lash at 330-375-2880 or email her at 
slash@akronohio.gov. Proceeds from the recycling go towards assisting burn survivors and their families during their stay in the burn unit and after they have been discharged.
