| PHILLIP L. YOUNG Phillip L. Young is a law enforcement veteran. He
worked as a State of Ohio Highway Patrol trooper in Akron and Portage County for 23 years.
During Mr. Young's career he was recognized for his 18 years of perfect, on-the-job
attendance.
Phil Young was promoted to the division of Recruitment and
Minority Relations after having more than 500 letters of commendation written on his
behalf.
As a trooper, he received awards for his work in the State
Auto Larceny Program and for his enforcement efforts of the Ohio Seat Belt Law. For his
humanitarian work, Mr. Young was bestowed with the Robert M. Chiaramonte Humanitarian
Award in 2001, and in 1998 he received the Trooper Recognition Award for going above and
beyond the call of duty as a highway patrol officer.
Two of his greatest honors came in 1998 and 1996. In 1998,
he was named State of Ohio Employee of the Month for January; in 1996 he was recognized as
Trooper of the Year.
For the past 20 years, Mr. Young has been a speaker for
Youth Motivational Task Force, helping young people find direction in life. A lifelong
resident of Akron, Phil Young graduated from South High School and attended Kent State
University before joining the Ohio State Highway Patrol in 1982.
