Innerbelt Master Plan
In 2023, the City of Akron was awarded a US Department of Transportation grant for the Reconnecting Communities Program which will be used to develop a Master Plan for the vacated section of the Innerbelt. A Request for Qualifications (RFQ) was announced April 10 at Mayor Malik's State of the City Address for the development of the master plan.

Reconnecting Our Community Initiative
The City of Akron commissioned an inclusive and equitable engagement process to begin conversations on the future of the Innerbelt. This first phase of work took place between 2021 and 2023 which included engagement with former residents and business owners as well as the development of a permanent history archive of their stories.
